European project HOOP will start in October with 23 partners from 10 countries

The HOOP Project, a European initiative coordinated by CETENMA (Technology Centre for Energy and Environment), has been the only project selected for funding by the Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation under the topic CE-FNR-17-2020. The project comprises 23 partners from 10 different countries across Europe and has a total budget of €9 million, with an EU contribution of €8 million.

The Portuguese participation will be led by LIPOR - Intermunicipal Service for Waste Management of Greater Porto and will count with the participation of 2 national SMEs: 2GO OUT Consulting, based in S. João da Madeira, and RdA Climate Solutions, based in Ovar.

LIPOR, the entity responsible for the management and recovery of Urban Waste in 8 municipalities in Greater Porto, will participate in the HOOP project as a lighthouse region. The participation in this project aims to consolidate the position of Greater Porto as a reference for circular economy and for the production of bio-based products from bio-waste.

2GO OUT Consulting will participate in activities related to the involvement of stakeholders and to the increase of awareness and acceptance of bio-based products in the lighthouse region. It will also be involved in the network of follower cities and in the evaluation and replication of project results. 2GO OUT is a consultancy company specialized in attracting financing and developing European innovation projects in the areas of the circular economy, smart cities and sustainable energy.

RdA Climate Solutions will be responsible for the evaluation and definition of business models to the solutions presented and support in the design of innovative financing models. RdA will also be responsible for assessing the economic impact of the project on the lighthouse region. RdA is an independent consulting boutique specialized in climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies operating at European level, mobilizing investment for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
